I was so touched by this story I read on Yahoo News today, Sunday October 26, 2008.

Hero dog risks life to save kittens from fire

SYDNEY (Reuters) – A dog was hailed as a hero on Sunday after it risked its life to save a litter of newborn kittens from a house fire, rescuers said.

In a case which gives the lie to the saying about 'fighting like cats and dogs', the terrier cross named Leo had to be revived with oxygen and heart massage after his ordeal. Fire broke out overnight at the house in Australia's southern city of Melbourne, where he was guarding the kittens.

Fire fighters who revived Leo said he refused to leave the building and was found by them alongside the litter of kittens, despite thick smoke.

"Leo wouldn't leave the kittens and it nearly cost him his life," fire service Commander Ken Brown told reporters.

The four kittens also survived the fire and Sunday Leo, who fire fighters nicknamed 'Smoky', was again back at the house.

This just goes to show that if an animal is concerned and determined over the well-being of another animal, shouldn't we as humans have a heart that cares for people and what they are going through and be willing to reach out to them and help pull them out of the fires that may be blazing in their life. -Dawn H. 10/26/08 @ 7:56 p.m.

Life is not always wind blowing through your hair, good times, sweet sunshine, butterflies, rainbows, and everything oh so carefree. It pushes against us so hard sometimes to the point we may feel standing is the hardest thing to do. There are some times we have to crawl before we can even walk. It is in those times when our backs are against the wall that we become stronger and learn to fight. When it gets hard, we have to push harder. We muster up every ounce of strength within us and press on. Though the storms come and the winds beat vehemently upon us time and time again, we keep going on one step at a time. Whatever presents itself at the doorstep of our life; we learn how to handle each visitation. If life was easy, I believe we would take it for granted, more than we already do. We could all sit down right now and make a list of all our blessings; but what we tend to do first is highlight all the wrongs. We are not alone. ~SOME DEFINITIONS OF MINE~

FORGIVE: Something we have to do for “us” even when it may seem like the hardest thing to do. If we hold on to what is bothering us and not let go of it through forgiveness then we are only hurting our own self and carrying baggage that needs to have already been dropped off.

LOVE: Though it cannot be fully explained, it most definitely can be understood.

TRUST: Something that others should be able to have in us and what we should place in others.

ENCOURAGEMENT: Something we all need and need to give others all along the way.

BELIEVE: In others and yourself.

FEELINGS: We cannot let fear keep us from showing their trueness.

GIVE: From our hearts, expecting nothing in return we should give joyfully.

~REACH OUT~

In this life, our every day is not going to be a great one; but we can still have a good one. There is always something and someone who will bless our life in a little and special way and it is the “little” things in life that truly mean so much! We can do a lot when we open our heart and give from the depths to others around. We touch lives even when we are unaware that we do.

Nothing done from the heart and out of Love goes unnoticed or unaccounted for even if it may seem that it does. There is always someone watching us, and for them to see goodness given, that moment is never truly forgotten. Life is not about just our own self, it is about us all. When we put others before us that is when we truly fall in line to be BLESSED. The things we do for one another should never be done with an attitude of wanting to be praised. Praise itself always shows up at its appointed time! We were created to love each other and to care for one another! We are to bear each others burdens.

In times of need, we need to reach out with our heart. Whatever is going on in our life and another’s, being there for each other makes the trial a little easier to handle. Right now it is not about “me”, but it is about “you” and when we realize that, then we are blessed in the process. We need to grab the hand of another and walk this trial through together! We are not alone, we have each other! We need to reach out with a hand, and a heart that says, “I Will Never Let You Go”!!!!

~WISHING YOU A BLESSED NEW YEAR 2008~

We stand in the last two days of this year and are about to leap into a new one. My wish for everyone is that 2008 will be a year filled with blessings left and right and may all things GOOD fall onto your path. I wish each day for happiness to exude through your heart and may there be peace in your soul. I hope that there is not a day where a smile leaves your face, but if that day should present itself to you, I pray for strength to encounter you and carry you through. Though we do not have the greatest of days always, there is still good to be found in them all.

I am thankful for 2007 for many reasons. It has been a good year; yes there are some days I will leave behind without wanting to reflect upon again. We have so much to be thankful for each day we wake unto. To breathe, that is a gift in itself that is taken for granted so often. I love living life and that is something I want to do with you all. With each year that passes I want to make a heartfelt impression on the ones I care about and all those I come in contact with. Life is a gift and we need to cherish it to the depths. We were created for a purpose and a reason. Each of us are special in our own way. We are here for a moment, so let’s make the most of each we are given.

What is love if it is kept and never given? Nothing but another word in the dictionary, but never defined on our own. In this life love is the breath-line. With each day, those we meet, we need to breathe love over them. If we all cared, just think how the world would be?! I know that I was created for a purpose, just as each and every one of us was. The devotion of love is steadfast; it’s up to us to be committed in showing it to those around us. When our hearts reach out to one another’s there is a force that moves us in directions we may not have dreamed of going. Never let a day hold you back from letting go to love. ~A KIND WORD~

"A kind word brings light among the darkness". -me

Something as simple, yet so powerful, brings light to the depths of darkness and that is a kind word. In this life, we go about our days and not all of those days seem to go our way. When everything seems to be going wrong, there is someone that comes along and drops a word of kindness in our path and everything seems to slide away for the moment. We truly cannot grasp the intensity a kind word holds. It works on people in ways that breaks down the most exterior walls they have put up as barriers. If we would hold back those words that tear a person down and instead let words of kindness flow from our tongues, people would be touched in a way that they would forever hold on to that moment. Kindness will carry a person further than they have ever imagined. Once we open the doorways of our soul and let it flow out to others there is a change that comes about us and those it comes in contact with.
